Our second day in the BVI began with a quick snorkel and great breakfast.
The food on our ship is incredible and our chef, Sandrine, has a knack for making everything beautiful while also tasty.
After breakfast and a peaceful sail we moored in Jost Van Dyke where we finished the morning at the legendary Soggy Dollar Bar.
Known as the place where the “painkiller” was invented, the relaxed beach bar is a must-stop for those sailing the BVI.
Lauren had her first Painkiller, played the famous ring game, and Steve found the Huskers. It was a nice morning.

After lunch we tackled the paddle boards and everyone in our group made it up. Again a first for Lauren, as well as the rest of us.

We’re all going to continue practicing the rest of the week.
Our late afternoon and evening was spent at Foxy’s, another famous beach bar on Jost Van Dyke. The beach bars are also where you find WiFi, so they are a necessary stop each day. 🌴

All in all, another perfect day!
However, two cabins were not sold so we are a group of seven. The three of us are joined by Andrea and Mimi from Italy and Nancy and Richard from Sweden. Luckily everyone speaks English (mostly)! Our captain, Bruno, is French but looks like Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean.
Our first stop was Virgin Gorda and the famous Baths. The super large boulder lie right at the water’s edge and allow for walking and swimming in and out of the light and dark. It’s really hard to describe but it makes for some great photos!

Actually, we’ve offered all of our nieces and nephews (we have ten) a trip to the location of their choice when they graduate from high school. Lauren is the first and she picked the British Virgin Islands. So here we are!!
Though the visit was short, Lauren counts it as her first visit to Miami. The next day we flew to St. Maarten. This leg of the trip included Lauren’s first time exiting the plan on stairs. So many firsts!!
Our ocean facing room, with a comfy rasta-striped hammock chair on the deck made for a great place to ease into island life.

Beach chair, beach bar, beach restaurant. Lauren had her first rum runner. She liked it!
